Handmade Brass Jewellery
We here at Earth and Elements, love working with brass. It is a beautiful metal and far more ethical than silver or gold, as its an alloy that is typically made from recycled metals.
Our brass collection is a mix of entirely handmade pieces and cast designs, with all details being hand carved. Made by skilled metal smiths in the Rajasthan region of Northern India. The brass we use is a combination of zinc and copper and is Lead, Cadmium nickel-free.
Much like wood, stone, concrete and many other naturally resourced materials (ourselves included!) brass will age with time and naturally create it’s own natural patina. We can view this ageing process as one to celebrate as a process of evolution. However if you want to get back to the shine of your piece and being it back to its glory, it is very easy to clean and look after.
Brass has been an important metal throughout history. Known for its yellowish warm tones that can gleam as good as gold. Brass is one of the most popularly used metals for jewellery, partly due to its resemblance to gold. It has been used since its creation in making beautiful jewellery designs. Due to its affordability, workability and durability, brass is a very good choice for jewellery and is increasingly being used in the jewellery world.
